It's a 12V unit, allowing installation near wet areas with the supplied transformer reducing voltage from 240V to 12V. despite the lower voltage, it operates at the same temperature and wattage as a 240V rail. Wiring points are available on both sides, and they can be wired at the top or bottom, but it's only suitable for hardwiring. It rapidly heats up to 45-55 degrees, controllable with an on/off switch or a recommended Timer for cost-efficient operation, costing as little as $1 a week to run.
